FUME

WORK CASE 9
AGENCY: Freelance
ROLE: Designer, Illustrator

Drawing upon ancient cultures to promote modern-day indulgences using colorful illustrations

So, imagine it is 2016. With the dizzying amount of choices available to consumers in the Vape/E-cigarette market, it can be difficult to choose. I was approached by a young brand that sought to stand out against the competition not just with their concept, but with its packaging.

FUME pays homage to the ancient Azteca culture. Historically, the Aztecs did smoke tobacco in religious ceremonies as well as recreationally. The one thing that was emphasized with the smoking experience was the aroma or smell. So FUME wanted to approach their products not only as enjoyment for the smoker in taste, but an olfactory experience for everyone around.

Translating the illustration into the packaging and presentation of the product

When it came time for designing packaging I opted for a rich colorful illustration style and different printing techniques to compliment the idea of stimulating different senses. Basically we wanted shit to smack you in the face a little bit, in the best way.
